We recommend flying into Querétaro International Airport (QRO) — about a 20‑minute drive to Sebastián’s home. You can also arrive at Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX), but please note it’s roughly a 3‑hour drive to Querétaro. From Mexico City, you can travel to Querétaro by car or bus. If you plan to arrive via Mexico City, let us know so we can help coordinate your ground transportation. More details below.

Once in Querétaro, it’s easy to get around with a car rental or ride‑hailing services like Uber and DiDi.

A visa to enter Mexico is not required for most citizens of the Americas, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and parts of Asia. You also do not need a visa if you hold a valid, multiple‑entry visa for Canada, the Schengen Area, Japan, the United Kingdom, or the United States, or if you are a permanent resident of those places (including Canada, Chile, Colombia, Schengen countries, Japan, the UK, and the US). All other foreign nationals must apply for a visa in advance at their local Mexican embassy. Please let us know if you need supporting documents for your visa application. The official language of Mexico is Spanish. Many people can understand some English, but speaking proficiency varies depending on location (more common in major cities and tourist areas).

July is summertime in Querétaro. Expect warm days with average daytime temperatures of around 27°C (80°F), and cooler nights that drop to 15°C (59°F). July is also part of the rainy season.

Mexico uses the peso (MXN). Many places accept card payments, but it’s best to also keep some cash on hand—especially for street tacos, market vendors, and small shops.

The main celebration will take place in Naivasha (~90 km from Nairobi and ~70 km from Nakuru). Guests can travel to the wedding site on the day of the wedding. If you prefer to lodge near the wedding venue in Naivasha, below are some suggested accommodation options:

Guests can arrive at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Uber and Bolt are widely available at JKIA and across Nairobi and are ideal for getting to your accommodation within the city. We’ll coordinate transportation from Nairobi to Naivasha and back. Please let us know as soon as your travel details are confirmed so we can connect you with the travel agents. We’ll also arrange transport for everyone joining the optional group trip to the Maasai Mara.

A visa is not required for most African passport holders and citizens of the Caribbean, Pacific Islands, and parts of Asia. All other travelers must apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before departure. The eTA is usually processed within a week, but we recommend applying at least two weeks in advance. For more information, visit: Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization.

Visitors may be required to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate, especially if arriving from or transiting through countries where the disease is present. We recommend checking the latest health requirements before you travel.

Kenya has two official languages, English and Kiswahili. Kiswahili is more widely spoken, but most people also speak English and a mix of both, “Swanglish” (or, as Sebastián calls it, “Swahinglish”).

December is sunny and warm, with temperatures ranging from 14°C to 25°C (57°F to 77°F) in Nairobi and Naivasha. Rain is unlikely this time of year.

Kenya uses the shilling (KES). Mobile money (M‑Pesa) is the most common way to pay, so we recommend getting a local SIM card on arrival. Cards are accepted at many establishments, but—similar to Mexico—it’s also best to carry some cash if you don’t plan to use M‑Pesa.
